The San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance, has been working tirelessly since 1998 to protect the quality of life for visitors and residents through the creation of interconnected parks and natural areas. This incredible organization has been a leading advocate in the conservation, protection, and maintenance of San Marcos’ beautiful natural areas ensuring that future generations can enjoy them. The health and wellness of San Marcos’ natural areas not only impacts our visitors and residents but also the local flora and fauna who call this area home as well.

Rene has left his mark, quite literally, on San Marcos' arts and culture community. One of San Marcos' own, he has utilized his talents to showcase the beauty of San Marcos, it's unique history, and incorporated messaging to encourage everyone to help keep it a beautiful place to live and visit.

Every year, 10 million straw-coloured fruit bats migrate to Kasanka National Park from all over equatorial Africa. The local communities benefit from the revenue generated by ecotourism and direct employment.
